Tan Yen Yen
Tan Yen Yen is Regional Vice President and Managing Director of Asia Pacific (South) for SAS Institute. She is responsible for providing strategic growth directions and leadership to SAS South Asia Pacific region. In this capacity, she drives SAS revenue, profit, and client satisfaction.
Prior to joining SAS, Yen Yen was Senior Vice President of Applications for Oracle Asia Pacific, responsible for revenue, growth, strategy development and operations in Asia Pacific. Before Oracle, Yen Yen was Vice President and Managing Director for Hewlett-Packard Singapore (HP) responsible for overall leadership of HP Singapore and driving profitable growth for HP’s Enterprise Business.
Yen Yen plays an active role in Singapore’s infocomm industry. She served as Chairman of the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation from 2009-2011. During this period, she was also Director of Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore and Deputy Chairperson on the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) Internet and Media Advisory Committee. She was a member of Singapore Institute of Management’s International Academic Panel, Government Parliamentary Council of MICA and the Economic Strategies Committee’s IT Working Group subcommittee and the Ministry of Communications & Information’s Infocomm Media Masterplan’s Talent and Manpower Work Committee.
Yen Yen is currently the Chairman of Singapore Science Centre, Director of Singapore Press Holdings, Director of Gemalto, Director of Defence Science and Technology Agency, Director of Cap Vista and Advisor Mentor of TNF Ventures. Additionally, she sits on the Board of Singapore Institute of Directors and the Board of Advisors for National University of Singapore’s School of Computing. For her passion in sports, she contributes to the sporting community as a member of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth’s High Performance Sports Performance & Selection Subcommittee and as a member of ASEAN Para Games Organising Steering Committee.
An award-winning corporate leader, Yen Yen has earned a reputation for her contributions to the industry. These include ‘Most inspiring Women’ by Women’s Weekly 2009 Great Women of our Time Awards; the 7th International Management Action Award (IMAA) in 2010; and ‘IT Leader Award 2011’ by the Singapore Computer Society (SCS).
Yen Yen has a degree in Computer Science from National University of Singapore and an Executive MBA degree with Helsinki School of Economics Executive Education.
Apart from her illustrious career, Yen Yen is also an active sportsman. Sports have been part of her lifestyle since young. She enjoys golf, scuba diving, skiing, swimming, jogging and cycling. She has participated in several triathlons and had completed her first half ironman at Aviva 70.3 in Singapore in 2011.
